With temps on the rise and many more beach days to come, why not take a ferry ride off the Bay State and attend two great film fests, the 12th Annual Provincetown International Film Festival (PIFF) and the 15th Annual Nantucket Film Fest, happening this week.

The PIFF will get things started this Wednesday, June 16th with an opening party including live music and plenty of good eats. The four day fest will be featuring over 50 films from around the world. Each year the fest is dedicated to honoring the work of not only acclaimed but emerging directors, producers and actors. PIFF’s mission is to contribute to the economic and creative vitality of America’s oldest art colony. The film screenings will be all around P’Town, including the Whalers Warf Cinema and the Art House Cinemas. Talented filmmaker Kevin Smith and the beautiful Tilda Swinton will both be in attendance and will be honored at this year’s fest. Smith is to receive the 2010 Filmmakers on The Edge Award and Swinton is to receive the 2010 Excellence in Acting. Check out the PIFF web site for tickets, times and venues.

The three day NFF will kick things off June 17th and like the PIFF will be featuring films from all over the world. The festival’s mission is to promote the cultural awareness and appreciation of the art of screenwriting in the world of cinema. The festival will start things off with a screening of Toy Story 3. Oh and the stahs who are attending this year’s festival are wicked awesome! On Saturday, the quaint island will shake with laughter by the All-Star Comedy Round Table event including Ben Stiller, New Hampshire’s own Sarah Silverman, SNL funny man, Andy Samberg and the hilarious Zach Galifianakis! Yup, and tickets are still available at a cool $25! You might want to think about booking your ferry now. For more information on screenings and venues check out NFF web site.

Both fests have quite a line up of films, events, honorees and stahs! Why not spend the last week of spring cruising the Atlantic and celebrating the film community in Hollywood East.  Check out both PIFF and NFF for all the latest.
